Amsterdam, redux pt. 3

Part 1
Part 2

If you didn’t figure it out yet, the last picture in Part 2 was taken in Madurodam, a miniature city. It’s built at 1:25 scale and includes traditional Dutch buildings as well as various landmarks. Here are some more shots from Madurodam:

When doing work on the models, they even make it look like actual construction.

Look! It’s the phallic monument again!

And the windmill!

Schiphol

These planes are pretty big, actually.

This souvenir vendor delivers the goods in a little truck. It’s designed to fit in with the models.

The sad invasion of commercialization.

These last pictures were taken from the canal cruise. The subjects didn’t turn out so well, but we liked the pictures anyway.

I kind of feel bad for my mom. After the first night, she got sick and ended up staying pretty much the whole time at the bed and breakfast. Then again, she wasn’t invited in the first place. Yes, that sounds mean, but she knew perfectly well that I could have really used a vacation from her. Well, I ended up getting it anyway. Karma’s a bitch. In a good way.
